Beautiful Stone Gate
I would like to show you Nakagusuku Castle Ruin in Okinawa, Japan. Okinawa was used to be called The Ryukyu Kingdom until 1879. This site is protected by the UNESCO World Heritage and Japanese Government , under the title “Gusuku Sites and Related Properties of the Ryukyu Kingdom”. I don’t know much about this historical site, but I would like to share it with you.
We Entered The Rear Gate
Some of the structure is gone, but you can still feel the greatness in these stones.
There is sacred well in the ruin. It was really hot and humid at that time, but down stairs by the well it was cooler. I don’t know if there is good vibes here or not, but this different temperature gave us a more sacred atmosphere.
The Second Enclosure
Actually, this is main part for me, even though second enclosure. The featured picture of this article is from the second enclosure. There are thick walls like 2 meter and you can climb the wall almost. I could imagine that people looked at the walls, and thought were really strong and protective. I was surprised at structure of the arch in this picture. These stones have been keeping strong after all this time. I thought how could they build it without technology.
The first enclosure has big space more than other enclosure. I’m from Okinawa, but I felt like I was in a fantasy. I stepped into the past, and wondered what life was like in that time. The historians are restoring some of the parts of the ruin.
We Left Then Entered A New Ruin
This castle ruin is located on a hill. You could see nice view from it. There is a good space to see pacific ocean. So, we left one ruin to enter another “haunted” ruin. If you already read my other article, you will know what’s next. Haha.
